  • Manage a SIG mailing-list

What is offered?

A SIG mailing-list hosted by ISCA under the form:
SIG-acronym@isca-speech.org

that you can administer on your own.

Fully independent from ISCA?

No.

ISCA will also have administration rights on the mailing-list. You can still ignore this administration and use the mailing-list as your own. ISCA will not add/remove members nor control the content of the messages, unless suspicion of breach of ISCA Ethics rules.

Can I keep/have a mailing-list not hosted by ISCA?

Yes, as before.

Do I have to have a mailing-list for my SIG?

No, as before.

What admin rights?

Technically, the mailing list will be a Google Group and you will have the status of Manager.

With this role, you can manage member (add, remove, invite, approve members, change roles to Member or Manager), control content and set some group settings.

You need a Google Account to manage the list (note that you can create a Google Account with any existing email address, it does not need to be a gmail.com email address).

What are the limitations?

ISCA remains the Owner of the mailing-list.

In your role of Manager, you cannot delete the mailing-list, make another member an owner or change an owner's role nor set permissions to "Owner-only".

How to request a SIG mailing-list?

Send a request through this form.

How to manage a SIG mailing-list?

You first need to request an access (see the paragraph "How to request a SIG mailing-list?").

You will be informed when the list is created.

To manage the list, you need to login to the Google Groups wit the email address you provided in the request form. Select My groups. You will find the mailing list here and can manage it.

For further help, please consult the Google Help Centre.

Good practice

  • The SIG mailing-list is intended to facilitate communication between SIG members.
  • Do not use the mailing list for distributing unrelated materials.
  • Avoid excessive posting, large attachments, or messages that are not essential to the SIG’s communication needs. When possible, share links instead of files.
  • Use respectful and professional language at all times. Offensive, discriminatory, or inappropriate content is strictly prohibited.

ISCA reserves the right to moderate messages, restrict posting privileges, or deactivate the mailing list if its use is deemed inappropriate or misaligned with the association’s mission and values.
